Application Procedure
The online application is APPLICANT DRIVEN. If the applicant makes a mistake while applying, they simply can REAPPLY. The applicant should understand that all application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The applicant MUST utilize the correct ORI number (NJ0031500) for the Florence Township Police Department.
The Concealed Carry Permit (CCP) or Permit to Carry (PTC) applications are processed online at https://www.njportal.com/NJSP/ConcealedCarry. Approved applications are valid for two (2) years. Renewal applications can be submitted up to four (4) months before the expiration date.
All applicants MUST have been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey and assigned an SBI number before they can apply for a CCP or PTC. If you have never been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey before, you must apply for an Initial Firearms ID first. What will I need for submitting an initial Concealed Carry Permit application?
- SBI Number
- Upload of a recent photograph (on a light background, including head and shoulders)
- One (1) training record completed within the past two (2) years, instructor name, and qualification date
- Personal information: including Social Security Number and Driver’s License Number
- Background Information
- For Armored Car Applicants: Uploaded Employment Letter
- Contact Information for four (4) non-family related references
- Information on handguns to be carried
- $50.00 payable online to the “NJSP” and $150.00 paid in-person at FTPD. We accept exact cash, check, or money orders payable to “Florence Township Police Department”
What will I need for submitted a renewal Concealed Carry Permit Application?
- SBI Number, Last Name and Date of Birth for validation
- One (1) training record completed within the past two (2) years, instructor name, and qualification date
- Any updates to Personal Information
- Upload of a recent photograph (on a light background, including head and shoulders)
- Background Information
- Any updates to Handgun Information
- $50.00 payable online to the “NJSP” and $150.00 paid in-person at FTPD. We accept exact cash, check, or money orders payable to “Florence Township Police Department”

What are the training requirements?
Training Requirements:
- You need to successfully qualify on a course of fire for the Civilian Carry Assessment and Range Evaluation(CCARE) protocol issued on September 15, 2023.
- After you complete the CCARE protocol training, your instructor must give you:
- A completed PTC Safe Handling and Proficiency Certification (SP 182), and
- A copy of their instructor’s certification that shows they are a certified instructor. You are required to upload these documents when applying online. Not submitting these documents will delay or cancel your application without a refund.
- During the classroom instruction at the range your instructor will review the Use of Force Training.
- While applying online, you will be responsible for reviewing the Firearms Safety & Awareness power point that is integrated into the website application. It is suggested you review this before applying online due to the volume of information.
These requirements are unique to New Jersey and are required to obtain a New Jersey Concealed Carry Permit. If you hold a concealed carry permit in another state or have received training to meet the standards of another state, you will still need to meet the specific requirements listed above.
