Florence Township Recreation Baseball is offered for all children between the ages of 4-15. The program is broken up into different age groups based on your child’s age by April 30th of the current year. Dedicated volunteer coaches provide the fundamentals of the game of baseball, encourage teamwork and sportsmanship to all players.

We paired with the Riverfront League for competitive recreation games for our Minors, Majors, and Babe Ruth levels. They learn specific rules, umpires are present, and there are teachable moments. Baseball is a great spring sport.

Players are introduced to baseball with T-ball at ages 4-5. They learn to hit from the tee, how to run the bases, how to catch, and throw.

Next level is Coach Pitch, which is ages 6-7. The coaches introduce soft toss pitching to the kids.

Then the players advance to the Minors, which is ages 8-10. The players start pitching to each other and learn how to be catchers if interested.

Next level is the Majors, which is ages 11-12. The base paths increase 10ft to 70ft total and the pitching distance increases 4ft to 50ft total for this bigger field on Coates.

Last level is Babe Ruth, which is ages 13-15. The base paths increase by 20ft to 90ft total and the pitching distance increases by 10ft to 60ft total for this largest field.

For Minors, Majors, and Babe Ruth, if there are enough qualified players per age group, there could be an opportunity for a summer tournament team as well.
