Florence Township Recreation Basketball is offered for all children between Kindergarten and 8th Grade. The program is broken up into divisions and dedicated volunteer coaches provide the fundamentals of the game of basketball and encourage teamwork and sportsmanship to all players.
Beginning with our instructional division (Which is non-competitive), our young players are introduced to basketball by learning the very basics of the game. They will learn to dribble with both hands, learn how to pass and shoot, as well as begin to understand the various positions on the court. Instructional basketball is co-ed and is a lot of fun. This division is followed by our “College” and “Pro” Divisions, which includes players between 3rd thru 5th grade and 6th thru 8th grade respectively. This age group is divided into teams in both our boy and girl programs. Players will practice as teams and will play games against teams from Florence, Burlington Twp, Burlington City, Edgewater Park and others in our area during the season. All teams are entered into a playoff system to compete for their division championship. These divisions learn specific game rules; games are officiated and fouls are called. These divisions are competitive but as recreation, they are designed to have teachable moments by coaches and referees during games. Basketball is a great winter sport and a nice opportunity to remain active the colder months with friends.

Middle School Basketball – Florence Twp Riverfront middle School does offer a middle school basketball option where those interested may inquire through the Florence Twp School District
