We would like to congratulate Florence Township’s Cara Honeywell as she has earned a roster spot on Team USA’s 2025 Ball Hockey Team, which will compete in Poprad, Slovakia this Summer during the ISBHF World Championships from July 2nd thru July 6th.
Cara and her brother Laing have been a part of both Florence Township Recreation and travel programs for many years. Cara, a high school freshman began her love of hockey by taking part in Burlington Township’s recreation street hockey program on the same court where her father played in his youth. In 2022, Cara transitioned to playing hockey in Marlton, NJ where larger programs were developed and included more female athletes. This program aided greatly in furthering Cara’s development and opened her to an opportunity to try out for New Jersey’s Future Stars program, which was holding tryouts for the 2024 Women’s U19 New Jersey Team. Cara was only 14 at the time and it seemed like a long shot. Making Team NJ, Cara’s family watched her skill and love for the game skyrocket! In November of 2024, Cara went to a tryout for The 2025 Woman’s U20 USA Team. After months of tryouts and evaluations, she received the news in late January, earning her spot on the team.
Cara will be working out in preparation for the ISBHF World Championship’s and she along with her teammates will be responsible to secure funding to support the trip across the globe to compete. Please check out Cara’s fundraising page should you be interested in sponsoring.
Cara Honeywell is a wonderful representative for our local youth athletes and youth female athletes. Cara took to a sport that she was passionate about and has followed a path, developing as a player and teammate along the way.
