Notice to ALL Residents of Florence Township:

Over the years, the Florence Township Planning Board has worked diligently to craft master plans that promote the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the Township’s residents and businesses as required by the Municipal Land Use Law.  Most important is the Planning Board’s basis for these master plans – “the quality of life for Florence Township is enhanced by balancing the community’s growth with preserving its unique physical character, scale and proportion, and its history.”

Florence Township wants to prepare and adopt a master plan that provides the basis for preserving, protecting and enhancing these valuable attributes in order to improve the quality of life for its residents.  With this primary goal in focus, Florence Township prepared this survey to obtain public input for the development of the community’s vision expressed in a vision statement that will be the basis for the new master plan.

In addition, Florence Township is pursuing a new plan endorsement from the New Jersey State Planning Commission.  The Township is working with Burlington County and 11 other municipalities that comprise the Route 130/Delaware River Corridor.  Plan Endorsement will help Florence Township when it pursues grants and assistance from various state agencies.  Seeking public input through the survey will help Florence Township meet state Plan Endorsement requirements for developing a vision statement.

The visioning survey was a tremendous success — 480 persons participated in the survey!  The results of the survey and a draft vision statement that is based on the survey results are posted on the Florence Township website.  The survey results and the draft vision statement will be discussed at a public visioning session hosted by the Florence Township Planning Board and Plan Endorsement Advisory Committee on March 22, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. in the Courtroom of the Municipal Building located at 711 Broad Street, Florence, NJ.
