Under direction of the Township Administrator or their designee, plans, directs, and performs work involved in the collection, preparation, and dissemination of information regarding the programs, activities and achievements of the township through newspaper, flyers, periodicals, and other forms of social media; furnishes advice and consultation to the administrator concerning the information needs of the public; handle all hall rentals at the Community Center, including staffing, clean-up and meeting with potential renters and does other related duties.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Plans and disseminates information to inform the public about the activities of the township.
Writes, edits, or oversees the writing and editing of copy; reviews and evaluates for policy content; styles informational and promotional materials such as press releases, publications, and photographs, assesses the value and effectiveness of written material in achieving township’s information and program objectives. Will handle the weekly press release, township calendar, and monthly activities notices.
May conduct information programs to inform employees of activities, agency performance, and applicable administrative decisions.
Establishes and maintains liaison and cooperative working relationships with media representatives and with interested public, private, and volunteer groups to ensure understanding of the township’s programs and to create and maintain a favorable public image.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the township.
Will work directly with the IT Company and Website Company to ensure information is up to date on township media sites.
Handle all hall rentals involving the Community Center, including staffing for events, clean-up, and set-up for functions. This will include scheduling of staff Maintain a schedule of hall rentals and activities in the Community Center
REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years’ of experience in work involving the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information in the field of news media and/or public relations, publicity, and/or advertising. Two (2) years’ experience in hall rentals and management of staff. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point. Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
Hours of Work & Salary Range: Works 16-20 hours a week in office (office at Community Center) and available after hours for postings, etc. Salary range $25,000 – $32,000.
