The Florence Township Police Department Community Policing Unit provides service to all Florence Township residents and businesses.
Crime Prevention is the attempt to reduce and deter crime and criminals. It is applied specifically to efforts made by governments to reduce crime, enforces the law and maintain criminal justice. It is also the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove it.
It involves a trained police officer that contacts the citizen or business owner, to have an interpersonal relationship to provide information regarding crime prevention making the citizen or business owner more cognizant of ways to reduce the opportunity for crime.
Some of the services that the Community Policing Unit provides include educational programs, security surveys and follow-up with victims and organizing the community into the neighborhood watch groups as needed. In addition to education and crime prevention, it also includes physical and electronic countermeasures.
