Maintaining one’s independence can be an increasingly difficult task as we age. The Operation Reassurance program is designed to assist senior citizens and disabled persons with maintaining their independence through a daily check-in call.
WHY DO I NEED REASSURANCE?
Perhaps DEAN MARTIN said it best, “Everybody needs somebody sometime. Everybody needs someone somehow” .
The Florence Township Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit couldn’t agree more. That’s why we implemented the “OPERATION REASSURANCE” Program. This program is designed to give SENIOR CITIZENS and/or DISABLED PERSONS who live alone the opportunity to speak to a representative of the Police Department on a daily basis, just to make sure you haven’t had any problems during the night.
This FREE program is available to any SENIOR CITIZEN or DISABLED person residing in Florence Township. You need only to live alone and have a telephone. All YOU have to do is call (609) 499-3131, between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., every day, Monday through Sunday. It is that simple. If we don’t hear from you, WE’LL WANT TO FIND OUT WHY, so we are going to call you. If you don’t answer your phone, we will call a neighbor or a family member, until we find out that you are okay. In case we cannot reach your neighbor or family member, or if they are unaware of your whereabouts, we will send a police officer to your house to make sure everything is okay.
This does not mean that you will have to stay home every day. If you are taking a trip or visiting someone, just let us know ahead of time and we will mark you off the list for the time period that you will be away.
