The Florence Township Police Department supports a team of officers that are specially trained to investigate accidental, incendiary, and natural fires that occur within Florence Township and the surrounding environs. The team is comprised of patrol officers and a detective that have basic and advanced training in the determination of the origin and cause of fires. Members also have specialty training in the areas of appliance fires, electrical fires, automobile fires, and photography. e Fire Investigation Team works closely with the Florence   Township Fire Marshalls office conducting joint investigations. The philosophy is that typically, a certain amount of investigative effort needs to be conducted before a fire is classified as incendiary or accidental. Having law enforcement involved from the beginning ensures continuity of reports, evidence collection and interviews.
