2023 Officer of the Year:
Corporal Nathan Tompkins
Members of the department voted and provided a brief description explaining their choice. Corporal Tompkins received the most votes for Officer of the Year. When reviewing the explanations as to why he was selected officers stated he was a dedicated employee, a role model, admirable, and knowledgeable.
2023 Marksman of the Year:
Sergeant Timothy Sadar and Officer Shayne Krywy
This award is for the officer who showed proficiency on the shooting range. This year we had a tie between Sergeant Timothy Sadar and Officer Shayne Krywy.
2023 Community Engagement Officer of the Year:
Officer Darrell Fisher
This award is for the officer who was dedicated to building positive relations between the community and the police department. Officer Darrell Fisher was selected by the command staff for going above and beyond to improve the relationships. Officer Fisher attended almost all of the community events hosted by the police department.

In recognition of bravery and outstanding service in effectively and efficiently working together as a unit to de-escalate an incident with an emotionally disturbed person. This person brandished a knife and was pleading for officers to shoot him. The officers were able to peacefully resolve the conflict and have him transported to a local crisis center.

In recognition of bravery and outstanding service in effectively and efficiently working together as a unit to perform CPR on an unconscious resident who was suffering a medical emergency while being protected by an aggressive dog. Officers were able to safely remove the dog without it or any officer sustaining injury. After the dog was removed officers continued CPR and provided aid to two residents who were initially attacked by the dog.

Captain Albert Jacoby
Captain Albert Jacoby for successfully de-escalating a situation involving a former military sniper who had barricaded himself with firearms inside his attic bedroom in Woodbury in January 2023. The man had asked to speak specifically to Captain Jacoby, who was not on duty at the time but was eager to assist after being briefed by Woodbury police.

Meritorious Awards Corporal Christopher Powell, Corporal Matthew Lloyd and Officer Shayne Krywy for their actions at a house fire on May, 9, 2023 where two occupants were trapped and successfully removed from an adjoining porch roof.

Detective Sergeant Nicole Bonilla
Sgt. Bonilla was selected as the Southern Narcotics Officer of the year along with a Detective from the Burlington County Prosecutors office. The Florence Township Police and the Burlington County Prosecutors Office launched an investigation in April of 2021 involving a drug overdose. As a result of the investigation, both detectives were able to determine the identity of the person that sold the victim the CDS that contributed to the victim’s death. During the investigation a quantity of drugs and U.S currency were seized.
