On behalf of our Mayor, Kristan Marter and members of the Florence Township Council, we sincerely thank you for taking part in our 2025 Patriotic Celebration Weekend.
Our annual event touches our community in many ways and everyone involved plays an important role in making it special. Honoring our veterans and active service members is of the utmost importance and this year we added a pre-celebration event to kick off the weekend. The Golden Eagle Community Band set things in motion with their impressive 60+ member orchestra, playing musical arrangements from Duke Ellington to Queen. Performing music to each branch of our miliary invited attendees representing those branches to stand and be recognized.
Joining our Mayor, Commander Ron Zalegowski, Florence Police Officer, Michelle Koroseta (National Anthem) and members of our Boy Scouts took part in a wonderful Flag Raising Ceremony with the support of the Honor Guard comprised of police personnel and American Legion members. Sentiments of service, country and community were spoken as blessings were offered to all that have sacrificed for our freedom.
The annual parade took place and despite warmer temperatures, over 100 pieces took to our parade route as our streets were lined with residents and families cheering and waving them on. Honored dignitaries including Senator Troy Singleton and Assemblywoman, Carol Murphy walked the route with a fleet of Corvette’s, local organizations, civic groups, houses of worship and local businesses. This year, we honored Don Cammus, United States Marine Corps – Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Cammus has served our community in several capacities over many years and continues to act as a community liaison for local events and activities. The Grand Marshal caravan was led by the Bordentown Elks, family, friends, decorated bicycles and a stilt walker dressed in red, white & blue!
Live musical performances and the aroma of food and dessert vendors brought thousands to the municipal complex grounds in anticipation of the evenings fireworks display.
We would like to thank all parade participants, vendors, musicians, children and families for your support in making this event successful each year. At the conclusion of this years event, our staff greatly appreciated that most trash and recycling found its way to appropriate containers and everyone exited in a timely manner so that clean up efforts could take place without delay. The planning involved creates an enjoyable and safe atmosphere, but the efforts made by the masses to conduct themselves safely and appropriately is what makes it possible to continue to have celebrations, carnivals and community gatherings. We are very fortunate to have each other to make Florence Township events an annual occurrence that leaves lasting positive memories for all.
Special thanks to our police, fire, ems, public works, water & sewer and recreation departments for the months of planning to ensure a safe and successful event.
We Thank You and Look Forward to Seeing You All Very Soon!
